    318 quarter panel = 325e quarter panel?

Hey guys. I've been sent on a quest to find out whether the front driver side quarter panel of my car ('87 325e) is the same of a E30 318 (not sure what year probably 84-85).

Found a quarter panel of the 318 at a parts yard, so I'm wondering if this is a direct replacement.

Also, what's the operation to taking off a quarter panel? Where are the screws/bolts located? Pictures would help too!

    Thanks in advance! :D

    Yes they are the same.

All the screws are obvious, figure it out. The only hidden ones are behind the wheel well liner, back up against the door jam.

I think any front quarter panel should work as long as it isn't from a carbrio.

        Thanks spencer!

I'll go pick it up tomorrow. And have it painted in a few days. :)
Car will be looking purdy again.

So, in the accident, the hood was free from damage?

Glad you'll be getting it taken care of. That's really good to hear. ;)

The hood was damaged.. I'm unsure of the plans to fix that yet. Its kinda bent in one spot. Theres a nice little line where the paint came off, so its pretty easy to tell. I might be able to get it straightened out. If not, the parts yard will have another visit.

You can somewhat tell in my sig. Right above the big ass dent

Yeah, I was lookin at that.

Hmm, time for a CF hood I think? :P

I could do that for my car, but, frankly I don't think teh CF look would look right, so I'd have to repaint it body color.

Either way, good luck with it!

Dont suppose it would look good on mine either..
                :P

Aren't they expensive? More expensive than say, a hood from a parts yard?

A good CF hood will probably go for at least a few hundred.

you could pick up a used hood for around $100-$150.. don't repair it, it'll never be right. Body panels (esepcially the hood) on the E30 are cheap enough that repairing it is pointless, it will look like shit, be full of bondo and probably cost the same amount anyway (unless your dad owns a body shop or something).

Went to the parts yard and all of the E30s there had the front driver side fenders damaged.. What luck. :(

Gonna go searching at different yards on Saturday.

Said he already got rid of the hood. Parts yard is definately a better choice. 8)
