Bad News Good News...Need Help

So I’ve been doing a lot of maintenance type upkeep on my new to me 1990 325i vert i.e. the Verty30. Today I decided to do a valve adjustment with the obligatory valve cover gasket replace. Anyway, all smooth sailing till I was in the reassemble stage.

Got my trusty torque wrench out to make sure I was careful when replacing the valve cover nuts. Started them all by hand in a criss cross fashion then on to torque them. I thought they were 10 lbs but apparently not. Anyway it appears that the two nuts that hold the spark plug wire case are stripped. I torqued to 10 lbs and now they just spin. Good new is they appear tight enough soI have no leaks from valve cover.

What do you guys suggest I do to get the nuts off?

Is the whole stud spinning or just the nut?

you can put a tiny flat screw driver under the edge of the nut while backing it off. or a knife blade tip

Think I'm going to wait to see if the VCG leaks or till the next valve adjustment. Well, then again, who are we kidding here, I will probably get at it the next time the hood is open. It just bothers me.

I can't imagine the VC nuts require 10 ft/lbs, but maybe they do. Personally, I'd just get them snug and call it good.

I don’t think they take 10lbs now. I think its more like 7lbs but from now after I get those two off I will just snug them too.

Why not just replace the nuts? It takes like 30 seconds.
