    Wtf is that sound

What’s going on guys... so slowly I’ve been hearing this sound louder and louder in the last month, I think it might be the belt or clutch fan. This is my 1st e30 And I am not a Mechanic so I don’t know much

    Car: 1987 325i convertible stock m20 2.5

One of your belts is rubbing. Open the hood and look in there. It should be fairly obvious.

Either belt is rubbing or slipping. Trying replace it and getting it tensioned properly

Get a can of belt conditioner and spray your alternator belt. Does the sound go away or change pitch? If there's no change, then spray your power steering belt. Once you know which belt it is, replace that one.

Or just replace all three of your belts, they're probably overdue anyway.

No, you still need to replace your belts. If your belt snaps at 10pm on 95 and it was your alternator belt, which also rotates your water pump, you'll overheat, your car will die and you'll be in a world of suck.
