Replaced TA, now the steering wheel is tilted?

Had an alignment issue due to a bent trailing arm. I replaced the trailing arm/axle/wheel bearing. Once assembled the steering wheel is close to a 1 o'clock position.

Is this typical? I didn't even remove the front tires.. Anyone else experience this?

Did the bent arm cause a change in toe? Was the car crab walking when it was bent and aligned that way? Could be possible I guess since the car now drives straight without having to compensate steering wheel direction.

@ak Yes it did. I had almost a whole degree of toe in on the offending side, the other side was near perfect figures. Which is why I'm not freaking out tearing everything apart... Again.

I wouldn't say crab walk but it absolutely had odd driving characteristics. Its much more predictable over bumps/wet roads since the swap.

I thought it may have happened to someone else?

I actually had a car that WAS a crab. The roof had split from B pillar to B pillar and someone had braised steel bars to the roof to keep it from splitting in half. If you stood in the middle of the road and watched it come at you (which I DID NOT recommend anyone do) it literally rolled sideways.

The good news is...it was a $150 Vauxhall in the days before safety inspections. Life was good then :-)

I'm worried about my 30 turning into the same. The sunroof will not align properly, as the roof of the car has too much of a curvature.

                hahaha!
Where on gods green earth did you own a Vaux? (I'm guessing Aus?) I've seen a couple of trucks like that around where I am. And they are driven daily.

I spent my 20s on Saltspring Island off the coast of Vancouver, B.C. where the "British" was taken rather seriously. Other than the Vauxhall, I also owned a 61 Rover 3 Litre which was actually a rather great car that also cost $150 and came with leather and a walnut covered interior. Other makes I recall that I don't think we saw down here were Hillman & Morris.
