    Stock HP on '88-91 325i vs. is (any difference?)

    Just getting into the e30 scene lately, been tracking e36's for a long time but have changed my mind on what my wants/needs are.

    Anyway.. i was wondering what the stock HP is among the different models of 325's there are

    325 = xxxhp
    325i = xxxhp
    325e = xxxhp
    325is = xxxhp

    in a conversation with someone else i recall the 325is having 168HP i believe, i'm currently shopping around for a 325 though and figured if the only difference between the 325i and the 325is is some body work and interior work, than i might as well get a 325i if i can find it for a good deal, and then do the body work and interior work myself.

    325 = 121 hp
    325i = 168 hp
    325e = 121 hp
    325is = 168 hp

    By 325, do you mean 325 with NO letters after it? In 88, the 325 had 127 hp.

    Basically, all I's have the same exact horsepower. Only other engines are the E's, which all have 121 hp.

      alright, sweet.

      so the only difference between the 325i and is, is the is front valence, and the interior, correct? or does it have sport suspension and such as well?

      edit: and yes thats what i meant by the 325 with no letteres after it.

        Yes, some suspension components are changed as well.

        Differences between the 325i and is are so marginal that it won't really be noticed. Post 88 bodystyles only have a lip on the front of the IS that's different from the normal I.

        I'm not quite sure what all the changed things are between the models, but I know most of the IS stock options were all optional for the I, like the OBC and whatnot.

        Basically, if you find an I, definately take a look at it. Something else to note is that IS's only came as two doors.

                Didn't all 89's and older come with body color painted mirrors? Didn't matter what model?

                Or have I been wrong all along? :?:

                  Wrong. Look at Weston's 325i.......it has black mirrors on his red late model.

                        this is kind of a bit off topic but maybe it is a bit ontopic.

                        I have the 325eS with all that sport package goodies like Map light mirror etc etc.

                        But anyway my car came with a plastic shift knob instead and no that space ship kind.
                        Anyway i had the choice to swap over to the leather but for some reason i liked the look and feel of the plastic. I guess that is just my personal prefrence huh.

                        My car also came with ///M logo in the middle of the gear numbers instead of just the numbers but it also came with one without the M in it too.

                        so was this an option or did one of the previous owners install it?

                            as far as i know, abs is not an "is only" standard feature. i'm pretty sure it came on all 325 i and e after a certain year. i think the same is true of the ac.

                            i didnt know the leather seats were heated. that's pretty cool.
