Car had everything tune up related replaced except o2 sensor in a recent 2 monthhs (plugs, wires, cap, oil, air filter, fuel filter, you name it...) Runs great, for a stocker set up.
Wendsday:
So, I got me some 19 pounders. I had a mark D (91 Octane, 19# injector chip) comming so I decided to stick the injectors in. I don't know if my old injectors were old tired and dirty, but the car felt totally more responsive under even a sligthest throtle imputs. I think it had something to do with better atomization.
Friday:
The chip arrives. I'm excited after seeing what just the injectors did.
I go to put the chip in. While pulling the old chip out, I crushed a little diode next to the chip pod - a copper colored thing). I'm pissed. Put it all together, car runs. A few minutes later it throws an ECL. I do the check: 1222 - Lambda. FCUK!
Saturday:
Before doing any more tracing I get a now o2 sensor (the ONLY thing I havn't replaced), thinking the extra fuel+chip may be taxing the old o2 beyond it's old stemina... (DMU still got broken diode). Nothing changes after new o2.
In the mean time:
The car's developing weird cold start up problem. First 30-60seconds it will idle real low and wants to die, but doesn't. Code 1222 pops up during red ligth stops or at prolonged stady throttle input (crusing on freeways). Tap of gas takes it away.
Monday:
Go to electronic repair place, the guy replaces the broken dide. Tells me he fixes these units all the time, not a biggy. (I see two Bosch Motronics sitting around his shop - I'm thinking I'm at the rite place).
Go home, the car keeps throwing the code at me! FFCCUUKK!!!
Worse: no, no matter : cold/worm car has difficulty staying on after a start. After a few seconds of fiddling with the throttle and managing to keep it on, it runs and feels fine, but the damn ECL keeps comming back.
WTF?
Now, questions:
Before I tear into replacing every vacume hose (which after messing around while replacing the injectors, I may have disturbed enough to have immessurable leaks is there any other advice you can provide.
Are there any other components that may be insufficient when 19#s and Mark D is involved? Idle control? Fuel pressure?
I spent last two days searching this forum and have a good concept of what the Lambda 1 is about and how to deal with it (vacuum - mainly), but I did not find any threads pertaining to my specific setup...
Keep in mind, all the problems started after sticking the chip in and braking the diode. Any earlier engine bay related work did not trigger any of the above symptomps.
Help!
I'm considering getting a "new" ECM and sticking the stock chip back to see if this helps...
