Another thing you may want to do is buy a book on suspension tuning. I've just purchased "How to Make Your Car Handle" and it has great info. As others have mentioned though, one of the first things it tells you is to learn to drive first.

Another. most basic factor, is tires and the impact the tire has on handling, due to many factors associated with tire science. Also, its never just one thing that impacts good handling, but when you change more than one thing at a time, you never know what any single impact resulted from. Its like a rubics cube.
Driving is the only way to go faster....

There are probably different types of urethane. maybe you had derlin.. that would definetly suck on the roads around here.

the funny thing is when I drive on gravel and tar roads I don't notice my bent wheel vibrating because all the road vibrations overpower it

A cheap thing "not really so cheap" that really helped my car I feel if you do not want to go crazy and spend a ton of cash is the E30 M3 control arm bushings at the rear of the control arm. It improved the feel so much at higher speeds-around 100mph or so. It made my steering wheel feel so much more confident.

                $90 really isn't too expensive..

anyway I forgot about this. it also reduces front camber by a small amount.

Also increases caster, which is why it feels better at high speeds! :D

                    lol, but from the past.

(doing another search, but this is still practical and relevant for a lot of people)

                    good tires
                    decent springs and matched shocks

On my old 85 318 I went from the stock bottle caps to some lightweight 17" aluminum rims that had a really low profile. They were wider and had a much smaller sidewall than the stockers, and the handling improved A LOT. They also made the ride A LOT harsher since the tire itself couldn’t absorb any bump from the road. After they got bent up pretty good a couple of times (and bent back with a sledgehammer), we sold them and I went back to the bottle caps. The car felt like it was 'floaty' compared to the other rims. Tires and wheels make a HUGE difference. Since the car you are looking at already has some suspension work, I would spend the $$ on some nice light wheels and tires for the track. I wouldn’t drive with low-profile aluminum wheels on the street again since they get bent to shit really easily, even if they look pretty good. I imagine they would help a lot at the track.

koseis are only 13.5 lbs I think~ but I would try before you buy if possible.

                          I-

have just begun to set up my ride and with years and years of modifying
motorcycles for the socal canyons, i really do beleive that 'less is more'.

i have been replacing bushings and plan only moderate mods.

the bushings in the rear have been replaced and the front will be done
this coming week ( along with control arms). already the difference is
                          astounding!

eurospeed, when you upgrade to ss lines, can you do a writeup? I'm especially interested in how to get the hard to reach ones in the rear. Theres gotta be a tool that can fit in there to make the process easier. Sorry to jack thread.

I will be removing my THR CAB's, and I will run absolutely no urethane bushings in my car.

Having a FUH RAZE suspension, no track to enjoy it on, and crappy roads is a horrible combo.

i don't know what everyone is complaining about.... urethane isn't that harsh, the roads arround me arn't in good condition by any stretch of the imagination (well some of them are), and my car is lowerd with boge gas struts, and suspennsion techniques springs. all urethane bushings, and i have no problems... it doesn't squeek at all, except the right rear spring pad, which i will be replacing as it is worn significantly. but other then that, no rattles or squeeks, no teeth jaring motions... sure it doesn't ride like a lincon, or a cadilac... but its a bmw people!
