    stuck valve cover gasket

2001 325ci. as said above, any tips i can use on getting it off. i dont want to use a heat gun since the valve cover is plastic. should i just source a new one?

Can you not pull it out with a pick? Maybe the last guy glued the gasket into the valve cover cause it shouldn't get stuck, a good yank/tug should get it free.

its the original valve cover gasket, it has 260k on the motor. i've tried with a pick and it only takes off bits and pieces

Heat gun lightly will soften it up enough to get it out without affecting the valve cover.

Also there is no way you made it 260k on an original m54 valve cover gasket unless you were adding a quart every day.

Why not get the engine hot, put on some gloves, and then try and pull it?
