    Rear Shock washer orientation....

I have a question about the washers that are at the very top of the rear shock's stud, underneath the nut. I'm fairly sure that the concave of the washer is supposed to face up, I've looked at a few and they were like this.

This looks weird to me, and it seems like it would make more sense to face the washer with the concave down, which fits nicely against the rubber mount, It also seems like it would be more solid and prolong the rear shock mount's life.

    Anyone have thoughts/comments on this?

the "dish" should face up, so it would collect water if it were rained on. This distributes load over the whole bushing, and prevents the shock from pushing the entire rubber bushing through the mount.

        my washers were flat? :!:

could that be because they were replaced when the PO got bilstiens?

It seems like the washer on the bottom of the RSM and the top of the RSM would clamp down on the rubber and make it a bit more solid. Not allowing the rubber to flex and wear out.

So you disagree? You think it would wear it out faster?

Its not a matter of agree or disagree. I told you the proper way to put it together.

I know its the "proper" way to assemble it, Im not disputing that.
I was interested in discussing an alternate way to assemble it, to lengthen its life span and make it more solid.

Assembling it the wrong way has been known to cause them to fail prematurely.
