    car randomly dies when warm

i was told to check my ignition and my starter module (part of the ditributor). does this sound correct? when its not warm yet it runs lik ea champ, when it warms up it dies and wont restart unless i turn the key off then back on.

Whomever told you that isn't familiar with your car, there is no module in the distributor. The ignition is controlled by the Motronic DME computer above the glovebox.

You could have a problem with the coolant temp sensor, or possibly a bad main or fuel pump relay. The best way to find out would be to test this stuff when the car dies. It's hard to guess without looking at it, perhaps someone else will chime in with an answer....

An 85 325e has a distributor .... it's only used to distribute the spark, but it's a distributor nonetheless.
