Antenna Options? What is this part?

Well antenna was missing the gormet so it leaked in my trunk + it didn't work either, so I pulled it out. Now a have a large hole, where the antenna use d to stick out. Has anyone mounted a non-motorized antenna there like an s2000 one (I know rice), or is there some sorta plug I can make or buy to fill the hole.

Here is a pic of the hole.

My next question is what is this part?

And this last pic is an example of what happens when your trunk leaks blah.

My antennae is borked as well so I was thinking of fabbing a bodycolor cap with a rubber washer on the underside that would fit flush with the body until I can do a bondo job on it or something.

I put a Z3 one in there. Looks good, took about a half hour, and works great!

if you go to home depot/lowes you will be able to find a plug that works fine. The PO on my turbo car bought a plug there and it looks fine.

I'd rock the s2k antenna as well if you can find one.

This could work if you had the part that this design is supposed to screw into. ie: a factory non-power antenna.

Has anyone used the S2K antenna? I like the e36 verts antenna but I want to put a car cover on so that might not work.

I bought a cheap antenna that came with a universal mount from Auto Zone. Then I bought a cute stubby antenna that screws on. One problem I ran into when swiching is the power antenna cable end was not the same as the universal end. So you have run a new cable, unless you can figure out how to splice it, but that was no biggie.
