Did you recently disconnect the battery? The ECU takes some time to reset and relearn. -
yeah
for like a week i had to disconnect the battery b/c when i was turning off the car power to my radio, turn signals, and wipers was staying on but i got a new hazard switch and fixed that. but that is about the time all this started happening now that you mention it. so i just have to wait now pretty much?Comment

Maybe give the idle valve a good cleaning and adjustment. On that car you can raise the idle by backing out the screw on the valve a bit.Adam Fogg- '88 M3

If you suspect that vacuum leak, then spray carb cleaner around anything that looks like a vac line, i.e. around the throttle body and intake mani and even around the brake booster where the master seats in. (etc etc)

ok i just put a new idle control valve on and the car stoped cutting off on me but its still idleing funny. the response in the throttle is alot better but when im just sitting at a stop light it jumps in between like 5 and 7 hunderd rpms. i tried adjusting the valve with the screw but it doesnt help. any ideas.Comment
