I've heard that there an external check valve that BMW released for the E32 750i, and that it can be retrofitted to an e30 if the internal check valve goes bad. I looked at BMA and Pelican, and I couldn't find any part like that. Has anyone ever heard of this fix?

The part number is 16-14-9-068-988, and it is about $8-9 at the dealer. I had the exact same problem you did and installed this a week or so ago. The car now fires quickly and I have not had to crank the engine 10+ times once. This includes the valve, a length of hose, and a protective cover. I installed it at the output of the fuel pump, right at the tank.Comment
