Use an impact wrench or leave the tranny in the car and use a breaker bar. I am assuming you are attempting to remove the flange for a seal R&R.

I used an impact and a, shoot, I can't remember, 30, 32, 34MM?? socket. I had to used a bench grinder to reduce the outside diameter on the socket to make it fit.
You'll also need a puller to remove the flange.
I would install the tranny before tightening the collar nut. (It is torqued/loosened/re-torqued) Have a helper hold fast the engine/tranny at the main engine pulley while this is done. You will also need to use some thread sealant on the shaft itself.
