After I redlined it today, I go to start off normally, and the car is all shaky. Now, when I had taken off earlier, I shifted hard enough to chirp second gear. So, now I stepped on it and it was shaking like crazy. I pull to the next stop light, and the car is just "phut-phut-phut-phut" instead of its usual "prrrrrrrrr." The car isn't running on all cylinders. It only sounds like 4 or 5. I might also add that the car has way over 200K miles on it, b/c the odo stopped at 190K. Plus, there is a headbolt missing, and the car has been sucking down oil like no tomorrow. I think this is a big problem. Anybody else have any thoughts? Need more info? How much will repairs run for what may need to be fixed? Frankly, I'm just thinking about getting a new car, because I'm sick of mine's stupid problems.
Well, my car feels like it's on its deathbed...

::shrug:: it was too much fun not to drive it like that; I had redlined it a whole bunch when I first got it anyway. I never did discover the headbolt was gone until around 8 months afterwards. I know the problem isn't the wires. My dad says that the spark plug may be soaked in oil so bad that it won't fire.Me: "I can't wait to redline my car!"

Yeah, I say the rocker arm, maybe even a gasket and you have lost compression. It's one of those 2 thigs mna for sure. Generally when you know you have a problem of that magnitude man you need to drive it to the shop, and usually under 3k...Just for future references man. 8)Comment

sounds similar to what my friend did to his mx-6... he was beating on it one day and spun a bearing or something.. after that the engine was making super loud knocking sounds.... i told him to just leave the car where it was and i would help him get it towed so we can check it out... instead he insisted on driving it and got in it and redlined the shit out of it for another 3 weeks ended up with an huge oil leak before it went BANG!!!! and then was shocked that the connecting rod broke and motor seized up (running a motor dry does that)
ohh well get that car apart and fix it before its too late... don't trash the motor becuase "its too fun to drive like that" it will be alot more fun when it runs right

Yep! Rocker arm. The car is too old to really fix it up, like rebuild the engine. So, I think I'm just going to get a new car.Originally posted by SlammedE30Methinks he's right.Originally posted by nandoyou probably broke a rocker arm.
