    fuel injectors

i have an 87 325e with 230,xxx miles. For a long time now i have been getting poor gas mileage and replaced numerous parts to try and fix it. I have been doing some research and some one recommended that i clean the injectors. i bought the car with 177,xxx so i doubt they have ever been cleaned or changed.

Would 19# ford mustang fuel injectors work on my car? I am not looking for a mod. i just want my good gas mileage back. Should i just clean mine or buy used 19# ford fuel injectors? (i see some of them on ebay.) thanks Matt

    replacing them is pretty expensive...

I would just clean them, there are guides around on how to do it, just replace the O rings, you should be able to pick up suitable ones at a local parts store.

fwiw - I cleaned mine when I got my car 190k on the clock, I averaged 28mpg on a 1500mile trip to the black hills, which included a very good amount of spirited driving.

eta has low impedance injectors so the high impedance onces may not work? so thats the only possible issue i can see

High impedance injectors will work fine on low impedance systems, since they draw less power than the ECU is sending them, so they will not fry anything. I have the same injectors in my 533i that has low impedance injectors stock and I have not had any issues since I installed them 4 months ago. For the price that the guy in the for sale section is offering ($40 a set) DO IT!!

There is absolutely no reason to put 19lb injectors into your eta. It will just run realy rich.
          Just clean your existing injectors.

Still wont need them. Unless your M20 is modified to pump at least as much air as an M30 (3.2, 3.4, 3.5) then it is pretty useless as a performance modification.

I added them to my stock 3.2 liter M30, but not with the intention of making more power. I did it because the "yellow top" 19lb Bosch injectors that you get from Fords have four pintles instead of one, so you get better fuel atomization. The real benefits are a smoother, cleaner idle, maybe a bit beefier torque curve (I felt some mid range improvement), and more consistant power and torque curve... This is all because the fuel is vaporizing more completely, and the whole mixture is able to burn more completely.

They can improve driveability, but they won't give you mo powah.
