replace bitch clip with 1cm bolt?

so if the bitch clip is .392" in diameter...0.392 inch = 0.99568 centimeter, which is close enough to 1cm, can I replace the bitch clip with a bolt? I just ordered the AKG 75D poly bushings for this.

i searched for "replace bitch clip" and didnt find anything, so help me out if i glanced over something and missed it.

why? I still don't know why its called "the bitch clip". It's not that hard to remove and replace. I'll post a picture of the tool I use to to it. It's like a hook dealy with one end twisted a bit. damnit i don't have a picture of it on my computer. i'll post it tomorrow.

on another thought...did they really raise the cost of a shifter by $20?? at the start of the shifter thread they were $43, now they are $62 from pelican for a Z3 1.9 or Z4 2.5...those were the only ones i checked.

It has become the mod that everybody does and is one of easiest with great benefits.

Basically the Demand has gone up through the word of the community. That is only a guess though.

I just use the stock bitch clip.

With a custom brash bushing I machined.

Distance between the mounting flanges is ~25mm so about m10*40 or m10*45 bolt should do... make sure that bolt has threadless area.

Longer bolt is easy to trim to correct lenght.

I used a bolt and shims,

the bolt goes into the hole on the trans, then trough a shim, then the shifter carrier, then another shim, then trough the trans again, and a nut on the end,
if you have the perfect sized shims that are large enough too stop the movement of the carrier it will not budge at all, I tightened it with the nut and bolt,
the bolt width has nothing do to with anything I did, it just has to it trough the holes on the transmission

Doesn't the M3 already use a bolt with a keyed head instead of the bitch clip: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...81&hg=25&fg=05

I destroyed a nose picker (radiator hose tool) like the one turbo_negro69 uses, honestly now that I've done it I can probably tackle the bitch clip much faster, but it seems a much better idea to use the bolt with some thread locker and good shims or bushing. Taking a mental note. Good idea.
