    problem with overheating ix

tonight drove the ix 50 miles and then when I tried to return, went straight to hot, and no heat in the inside, I know your thinking thermostat, but it works fine, boiled it and everthing to check, just replaced fan clutch recently and everything worked fine before tonight, so I was thinking, blockage somewhere, or radiator, any other options or is there a definite solution based on this? thanks in advance.

Easiest and most probable solution is the cooling system needs to be bled.

I would suggest bleeding it again before looking elsewhere. No heat is a telltale sign of air in the system.

Is the radiator/bottle filled? Sometimes air can get trapped and will take a few days to work its way out. Also, not sure if it is possible on an E30, but did you put the fan on backwards? Knew someone who did that and had over heating problems until he figured out what he had done.

Turn the heater all the way on, and go bleed the system. Fill it up some more, then go bleed it again.

e30 fans cant be put on backwards, just wont work.

and the fan only cools the engine while it is standing still. Once the car is in motion the fan is entirely not needed.

Yes, but if it was on backwards and turned while moving, it would push air away from the engine. But since it won't do that on an e30, move on.
