    OBC Chimes erratically

So the other day on my pleasant commute to work, about half way through the drive, the OBC chimes about three times. I checked the time and it wasn't the hourly chime. The temp was below freezing, so I assumed it was something to do with that.

Then it beeped again, and again, and again. I soon realized that each time I let go of the gas pedal, it would chime. Give it gas, even the slightest bit, the chime would stop. Instead of the simple one or three chimes, it would constantly chime until I gave it gas. Wierd huh?

BTW, I believe I have a faulty O2 sensor, as the 5 pump test spits out code 1-2-2-1. I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

So, instead of figuring out whats causing it, I would like to know if the chime offers the driver any IMPORTANT information. Like if my engine is about to explode or something. If not, I'm just gonna toss it out the window. OR, if anyone would happen to know why it does that, that would be appreciated too!

You can fix the little switch on the ignition that goes bad, or just unplug the stupid thing.

okay, so the problem is the little switch in the ignition.

now, based off what you guys are saying, the "gong" relays no important information. thus, rendering it useless. as long as it doesnt provide me with important info, then i will go ahead and pull the plug on that biotch!

no, not unless you really care to have it beeping at you every time the temp changes between 35-36-37 degrees, or when you have your door open. ;)
