what's your point? it doesn't mean that nothing bad is happening. 28k isn't really that many miles, really. it probably takes a while to happen, I saw it a lot on engine cores that came in when I worked for Jasper. I'd rather not risk it, not when a gallon of BMW coolant is less than $10. plus, the blue stuff looks cool ;)Originally posted by BMW BMXERI have 28k miles on the green coolant...Comment

The green coolant that the original owner used corroded the head in my s14 so much that it ruined it completely, I should have changed it when I first bought the car put it probably was already corroded too much. $1600 later(might as well get a ported one since I was replacing it ;) ), I use the bmw blue coolant only.

You can get it at the dealer, most shops that work on BMW (Mercedes coolant works too), and several places online, including bavauto. should be under $10, depending on how much they gouge you.
hmm, $10, or $500-$1000 for a new head? ;)Comment

Ok lets get some facts out there. G11 is available in green or blue.. blue is the color BMW and VW like to use and charge you more $$ for... it is phosphate free. You can walk into your local autoparts store and buy the same G11 phosphate free but in green. I have used both and when i switched from green to blue G11 in my corrado after 180k miles (doing a full coolant system replacement) there was no excessive corrosion. Now the new cars run G12 (pink at VW and BMW) this is the one you do not want to substitute G11 for... will turn to crap inside your block when the 2 mix.Chris
