trying to get the tach to work in my stroker...

i found the insterment cluster harness in this maze of wiring, and going off of what it says on strictlyeta.net, i have to splice 2 wires from the instrument cluster harness to the engine harness. it says to splice -

    - black wire from instrument cluster harness to black wire on engine harness (runs to pin #6)

    - yellow/white wire from instrument cluster harness to white/black wire on engine harness (runs to pin #32).

the problem is is i cant find a plain black or a black/white wire anywhere on the engine harness (to the ecu). can anyone help me? try to figure out which wire goes to pin #6 and pin #32?

    thanks

Tach runs off the coil. Maybe either look at the coil and check that color... OR jump direct from the coil to the tach just to get a signal and make sure it's working... Once you get it working then look at the colors wired to the coil and look at the harness for one of those colors...

Sorry I can't be of any more help

meh... coil didnt really give me any clues...

after looking at my bentley i realized in every wiring diagram in the book there is a diffrent diagram for pre/post 88. the car on strictly eta was an 86... doh.

can anyone point me in the right direction as to what wires in the big harness to the ecu does what? wouldnt there be a write up somewhere or something?

Why are you doing wiring for a stroker? The stock harness will work just fine.

my tach doesn't work, i figured this is my problem seeing how both wires from the cluster are cut and not connected to anything

              Tach runs off the coil.
Nope, the tach and motometer signals are from the DME. I suppose you could say that they are indirectly derived from the coil... But they really are derived from the timing reference sensor.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Sounds like maybe your Si board/cluster is bad. You didn't need to change from eta to i wiring in your swap...
