I just got my engine in my 88 325i and I put the clutch cylinder on the transmission where it goes and I got in my car, pushed the clutch and it was really really really stiff but moved. Once it got to the floor it stayed there...I can pull it back up and push it down but its still really stiff....does this mean I need to bleed it? What kind of fluid should I use?

Sounds like your clutch slave/master combo need to be replaced. That is assuming that you've bled the system and it still behaves this way.This is your M20 on steroids:
