when replacing the timing belt is it necessary to replace the tensioner spring. Can the spring be used over and over again. thanks Matt

Just finished putting the new belt on. I loosenedt he upper tensioner bolt to put tension on the belt. I am supposed to tighten that nut up again or leave it loose?
When i cranked the motor 720 degrees it lined up where it was supposed to. but i cranked some more by hand and at certain times there is some slack in the belt. is that normal?Comment

There shouldn't be any slack in the belt, thats what the tensioner stops from happening. Turn the engine over twice (or more), confirm the timing marks line up, and then tighten down the tensioner bolt to lock it in place. There shouldn't be any slack in the belt.Comment
