All 89-91 325i or replacement cylinder heads were stamped "2.5/2.7". 87-88 325i and 88 325 heads just say "2.5" (although the 325 is a 2.7). This is true for the original heads of course. It could have been swapped since then.

If it has dual valve springs, i intake, motronic 1.3...most likely it is going to be a m20b25
