Need help, ASAP regarding chip=no start

We just put in one of the Viper chips from e30gumball in Kyles 89 325iS. Now it wont start. We have tried about 3 times, and we left the key in on accessory to see if the electral current would help the chip or whatever and it still wont start.

Would taking the ecu back out, rotating the chip, and putting everything back in will help? its 1130 pm here and kinda have school tomorrow...

    Thanks,

Did you disconnect the battery prior to pulling the ECU to do the chip swap? If not, you could've damaged it. I know someone who made this very mistake.

Chips are sensitive it might have damaged itself if you instaled it wile the car was still live. Double check all connections you had to pull to work on it. If thats no good just restore it to it's previouse "working" condition and cross your fingers. Electirc is the worst part of a car damnitt!

How do you tell which way the chip goes in? I haven't really taken a good look at it but there has got to be some mark on there right?

We put it in backwards, as the chip has no alignment pin thingy.

The car started and is now running fine!

              Thanks guys

I did the same thing when I installed my BAS chip in my '87 325, kept trying to start the car and it wouldn't, rotated the chip out of desperation and she fired right up.

                      Kyle,
How do you like the chip so far? Do you notice any gains?

To those wondering if i notice any gains....well, yes i do!

I dont get a chance to drive the car very often, as its one of my friends, but i've ridden in it a lot since then and I can def. tell a difference as a passenger. Kyle tells me that he can feel the powerband is a lot smoother and that it does seem quicker. His car used to hesitate a little after 3.5k and now its just one continuous stream of power.

I'll have to race him now to see if i can tell the difference, then switch cars and make another run or two.

For the price, it is great! Just dont put your ECU back in and all that junk untill you know whether or not you got the chip in correctly.

                        Kyle
