    Uprated Injectors & Adj FPR

I have read that many of you guys bump up to 19# injectors. I was speaking with the PO a few nights ago and he told me that he thinks that the PPO installed 24# injectors??? He also mentioned that the intake may be extrude honed and that there was an e36 rear muffler on the car. There has been a lot of work done to this thing and I'm not really farmilliar with the e30's but to me it sounds like a 24# injector is just too much.

What is reasonable? I will be purchasing fuel pressure test/read equipment shortly so that I can dial in the fuel pressure. I think the car has a reground cam, contributing to the lumpy idle, but also with 24# injectors the cycle at idle would be very low right??? Meaning the injectors would barely open then close again rather than with a lower # injector they would be open longer giving a better squirt?? Am I missing the mark here?

Are any of you guys running 24# injectors?

If the injectors in your car are indeed 24# injectors, I believe they should be all black. The 19# ones are orange and grey, and the stock injectors are black and grey. Also, you're going to have to do more than just adjust the fuel pressure. How are you going to know what to adjust it to? You're going to need to do some runs on a dyno or buy a wideband O2 sensor.

Problem is I have no idea what the PPO did to this thing. There is talk of a BBTB, extrude honed intake, he fit an Ansa e36 muffler with headers, swaybars, springs, shocks, strut bars, Split Second piggyback, heated wire MAF, Adj FPR - and yes the injectors are all black... Also 10mm wires, reground cam to god only knows what.... BavAuto chip, strange back seat with arm rests & head rests, euro grilles with some fancy headlights, 4:10 40% LSD... more but I can't think of it now...

So the reality is I have no idea what has been done to the car and I know very little about e30's and all I want is to get an idea of what has been done so I can tune the thing and get it to pass emissions and driving properly.

It runs like crap & because I have no idea why I have half a mind to tear all the shit out, bring it back to bone-stock and start all over again but document it this time!!!

I need to find a GOOD shop that has a dyno and can take the car, tune it, know what has been done to it, do a comp & leakdown test, ID the cam, teach me all this crap & send me on my way with the 178whp that the PPO's dyno sheet states.

So injectors are all black... is that 24#? Why in gods name would anyone use 24# injectors on these cars.... does that mean other things have been done too???

24# injectors are WAY too large for an N/A M20 -especially if you're running motronic. I have 19# in my B28 and I'm thinking of dropping down to 17.5# (I'll see how my A/F is when I dyno it soon) . I would check them out for sure, if you look at the part # inscribed on the injector I'm sure somebody could tell you what it was.

reground cam.. ehh. sorry about that :p

The only common colors I know of are orange and light blue for 24 lb injectors. Pull an injector off the fuel rail and read off the PN like nando said.

The Ford Motorsport injectors commonly used on E36s are Bosch PN 0280150947, FMS PN M9593-A302.

Eh, 17.5lbs is enough for any M20 that can still run on the street. They are good for 240hp in the S50, after all (and no street M20 is passing that figure).

hmmm.... well what scares me is that the PPO could have not known enough and actually put 24#'ers in there....

i'll do some more homework. I need to pull apart the intake and fix some wiring under the intake by the fuel rail, etc. as well as replace the injector seats.

I'm probably going to get either 17.5 or 19# injectors used, send them out to be cleaned and replace whatever I have for the 19#ers that I know are good.

Like I said my biggest problem is I'm working with 100% unknowns in this car. variable upon variable is just too much to make reliable....

Thanks for the help. I'll post up some part numbers this weekend
