Some people wanted the specs. I posted it on E3S but since we have different members here....here goes.
The engine build, performed by Pete McHenry - (one of the top BMW engine builders in the country and builder of dozens of BMW CCA Club Race WINNING engines - also BMW CCA Tech Advisor) was completed in October of 2003.
Engine will be broken in with an Autothority chip, and Bosch 17# injectors, as well as conventional oil. At 1000 miles, engine will receive Bosch 21.5# injectors and custom chip. Eventually, after dyno tuning, it will receive custom software to optimize fuel/air curves, and provide a 7500 rev limit.
Specs are as follows:
-86mm bore, with honed walls
-86.6mm 3.0L nitride-hardened forged crankshaft (checked on micrometer)
-11:1 compression
-M3 135mm factory rods
-Balance and blueprint
-3.0 M3 camshafts
-Conical M3 valvetrain
-S52 valve retainers
-33mm LTW tappets
-Full race headjob with heavy porting, valve reshaping, guide shaping, relief grinding, and 5-angle race valve job.
-head shaved .0012”
-OBDI wiring/413 ECU
-OBDI intake manifold
-Authority 3.0L chip
-big-bore knife edged throttle body
-21.5# Bosch injectors
-3.5" Euro MAF sensor
-K&N cone filter (w/ heat shield)
-Aluminum thermostat housing
-Late-model metal water pump impeller
-Low temp thermostat
-fan delete
-3.2L stainless headers
-custom down pipe, custom center section to a 2-1, 2.5" Straight-pipe with resonator and Dynomax muffler (no cat)
-Getrag 260 transmission
-Motorsport 228mm clutch
-Aasco 7.5lb. Aluminum flywheel
-custom fabricated 323i transmission brace
-E30 M3/M10 (engine) transmission mounts
-modified selector rod
-custom shifter, using Z3 lever and all new hardware.
-E30 325 driveshaft
-3.73LS rear end
-Engine was assembled using OEM bearings, gaskets, and any other ancillary components. Rods were balanced within +- 1.5 grams --- factory tolerance is +-5 grams. Pistons were balanced to within +- 1 gram --- factory tolerance is +-3. Loctite Anaerobic sealer used throughout.
