    guys with airhorns. question

    whered you mount yours?
I have a compact airhorn (its about the size of two stock electric horns stacked together)
just wanted to get some ideas on where some people mount theirs

on a side note... mine is 140db at 4ft :)

    Is it this one?
    I got mine from Griot's Garage. http://www.griotsgarage.com/catalog.jsp?&SKU=77839

I mounted it on the driver's side where the stock one was. But I pointed it forward. I mounted it to the same little flat piece of metal that the stock one was bolted to.

Is there a soundbite anywhere for that horn?

yeah, go outside now and I'll honk it.

If I had a laptop I could get a soundclip of it... but I dont...

It sounds like a horn on a Ferarri or early Porsche... high tone. (I think it says the exact freq. on the website).

My wife bought me the Hella units but they are not airhorns and a custom signed Lithograth of my aircraft to go in my future study. Boy I need to get her something good next month for our 10 year mark.

I was thinking a new Diamond neclace but she would never wear it.

Yes, it's much smaller than I thought it would be. Have you hooked it up yet? It's LOUD! And I love the high tone. Read my post above for mounting instructions.

What is the point of a different horn? Stock ones didnt do it for you? I hardly ever use mine.

The screw is just the right size for that hole in the corner
                      so no drilling required
I tried to fit it to the stock horn location, but the mounts were totally rusted and I couldn't remove them

I can give it a light tap and its more of a 'hey hey' beep
but if you lean into it you get 'get ze fuck out of my way, I'm driving a BMW, you peon' horn

                        Exactly!

I've got mine in the stock location pointing forward. So it's essentially right behind the bumper pointing through the front valence. It's... LOUD!

did you use the passenger horn plug and splice it or the driver.

I mounted it on the driver's side. I couldn't get those flat bar mountings off of the passenger side horn.
I didn't splice anything. I just unplugged and unmounted the driver's side stock horn. Then I mounted the new one to the stock spot on the driver's side and plugged it in with the stock wiring.
