    Condensation in Ellips......

I just installed my Ellips (brand new) and the passenger side low beam has condensation in it :? Does this happen to anyone else? What can I do to make it go away, or prevent it from happening again?

    Thanks, George

I thought that they had those little plugs full of anhydride to keep them dry?

Was it raining when you had the condensation? Or was it just damp outside?

I never remember any condensation inside of my US ellips (when I had them for the week).

My last sealed beam had about 2 1/2" of water in the bottom of the bucket.
      Sealed beams.....what a joke.

Only the highbeam is actually "sealed". The lowbeams still have the lens glued on.

        *OK, back on topic.

I know this thread is almost one year old, but there seems to be nothing new on this problem. I got a set of Hella euro ellips from greg a couple months ago and the passenger lowbeam get condensation and fogs up anytime it's damp or humid or whenever for that matter. The last time I disassembled it, there was water up to the top of the smiley. I have sealed every stupid seam of the low beam assembly using silicone with no luck, it's driving me crazy, are there any areas that are prone to leaking or letting in moisture, I'm almost ready to switch back to my sealed beams out of frustration...

the seal is broken between the projector assembly and the lense. you can seal it up with sillicone, but don't use too much.

actually, that looks like more than condensation.. there's a bunch of water behind the lense. don't forget to drain it out.. even my depo's dont get that much water behind the lense! :P

I too have the smileys, and used to suffer from the same problem. Take out the complete headlight assembly to begin with. As you hold it in your hand, unscerew the 3-4 phillips (I forget how many now it's been a while), and seperate the projector from the glass lense. Inspect and study the two pieces, so you can get a feel of how things work. Get some waterproof sealant, and add some on the old pink/red gasket. Assemble the two (projector and lense) pieces together again, and screw in the screws nice and tight. Chances are that the phillips screws weren't even tight enough to begin with from the start....

                    Re: Condensation in Ellips......

Where did you get them? Are they the cheap Ebay Depo lights? if so that's your problem. If they're genuine Hella or Bosch return them.
