did a burnout up a freeway offramp...

now it is making a ticking sound and feels sluggish with not much power.

I bounced off the limiter for no more than 2 seconds before shifting. could i have burned a hole in a piston? broke a rocker? it sounds like the worlds loudest M20 injector. but the whole engine, and it is rough on take off and really ticky as i get up to speed.

    very smooth idle.

I broke a rocker getting on to the freeway. It would be obvious though, my car was running on 5.

broke the #1 rocker, there was already a break on the rocker shaft guide of that cylinder and i'm guessing it contributed to it. time to get a junkyard head and rebuild 'er.

What happens to the head when you break a rocker? Is it as simple as just swapping in a new one... ? I'm assuming it's not...

when a rocker breaks, the valvespring forces the valve closed... so it won't ge t struck by a piston. but i'm sure having a loose bit of rocker flying around on your head can score the cam or other parts. shouldn't hurt the head itself.

How easy are rockers to replace?

Depending on the location usually it entales pulling the head off the engine.

If its the number 1 rocker, you will need to pull the head

you can only change rockers 456 while head is still in the car

Mine was on the back of the motor, I got lucky. Got a new one and that's it, no harm done.

do these things break often when you hit the limiter or something? whats the point of having a limiter that high if shit breaks.

Move you limiter down to 6k and bump away.

It is not designed to be bumped off all day, merely as a safety precaution.

I have never broken one with a turbo charged motor, my chipped eta or in my m10....but I avoid bouncing anything off the limiter.

get some aftermarket rockers that won't break at 6500-7k rpm.
