alright, i had talked to some people on here about why my car was pulling low vacuum after installing the new spark plugs...well it wasnt the plugs...apparently the ECU had adapted to the new fuel injectors finally, and hence fucked with all the tuning i had done to set back the fuel the engine was being given. So i got the idle worked out and vacuum going right again....now a different problem....when i hit 5 grand at WOT the engine completely cuts out....no matter how much fuel im giving or taking, or how much ignition im giving or taking. BUT under just less than WOT, it pulls past 5 grand fine. This leads me to believe the ECU has a switch point that does SOMETHING at WOT at 5000 rpm...but what is it?
WHats the ECU doing?

Hmmm, my car as been doing something similar. At around 5grand it'll just shut off, check engine will flash, and it goes back to normal after i let out of it or shift. My engine is stock except for intake and exhaust. The ecu is untampered with as well.Comment

My car recently did a similar thing; turned out to be the AFM. The ECU was confused by getting a WOT signal from the throttle swtich, but getting a 75% or so signal from the AFM.
I don't know how harshly yours is cutting out, but on mine it was smoothe, no misfires or detonation of any sort. It would just simply stop pulling as if I had let my foot off the gas.Adam Fogg- '88 M3

Mine is real bad, feels like detonation. Fuel pressure regulator, fuel filter were changed 3 months ago, and I checked the fuel pump out and it's fine.Comment

I think we're experiencing the same problem. Would a diagnostic be able to pinpoint the problem, i'm thinking it's worth hitting up my mechanic for some help rather than racking my brain over it.Comment
