M30 AFM too big?

I can't seem to fit the rubber intake boot over the back of the M30 AFM. The opening is so big that the boot fits perfectly inside of it. I'm sure a reducer would be a simple fix, but I'd rather not spend more money. If this should work then I will try harder tomorrow, but for tonight, I give up.

Also, this is a direct bolt-on, correct? I saw some write-up where a guy switched out the electronics from the M20 to the M30. Is that really necessary?

You have to stretch the boot to fit, a heat gun or blow dryer is your friend.

If your AFM's part number ends in 027 it is plug and play. You'll probably have to play with the adjustment to get it just right though, I know I did.

I probably won't adjust it at all without a AFR gauge unless it runs really awful. In which case I will probably just put the old one back on until I can scrounge up some moneys for that.

You should not need anything else to get the 027 to work. Make sure that your boot is in good shape, nice and flexy, or it will rip. It can be a bitch to stretch.

All you really need to do this is a small flathead screwdriver and at the extreme, some silicon spray (wet or dry). But It sounds like your hands are too soft, so you're better off paying someone else to do it.

1. Place AFM end of boot in some HOT water.
2. Jerk off for 10 mins.
3. Wash hands.
4. Grab screwdriver.
5. Use screwdriver to help now pliable boot over AFM flange.
6. Jerk off again over the sheer awesomeness of my procedure.
