Well I spent all day today and yesterday installing the stroker. Its in, and running beautifully. Took a couple starts for the ecu to adjust, but now that its been drivin for a bit, it comes to a nice idle at about 800 rpm. Haven't really had a chance to do much power testing though since I need to break it in. However, since I needed to seat the rings, I took it up to about 5500 rpm several times, and boy, what a difference. The low end torque in this is great, can't wait to get this thing on the track. I was also pleasantly surprise by how well it did after 4500 rpm. The cam (274) really shines at these rpm's so it still has the great punch from 4500 up (although I couldn't take it to redline I can tell its going to be awesome). Unfortunately, I was doing most of the work myself and couldn't take any pictures. I'll take a few of the engine in tomorrow.
The Stroker is in, finally!

I was still under the car at 6. After everything was in, I found the oil distribution housing was leaking, so I had to fix that, didnt' finish until about 6:30. Wish I could've gone. Next time, its right around the corner from me.Driving is the only way to go faster....Comment

I have 3 chips, one that's in the mail. I'm currently using the JC, but I'm going to install the Alpina 2.7l knockoff tomorrow to see how it runs. I have another eta modified chip that's been based on an engine with similar mods. I'll let you know which works best. As far as the 2.7 vs. m50, I'm pretty happy, but I'll want to drive it for a while to see how it holds up under the added stress. If it fails, I'll likely go the m50 route.Good new! can't wait to see pics. So what did you end up using for a chip? The super eta is a good choice if you shave/deck the engine. I think one of the problems with other strokers is the customization necessary. I think this reduces durability, but time will tell. Since the super eta is a pretty durable engine without modifications, you'd think that just adding a cam and dual springs, the durability would remain. I'll let you know which chip works best.Please let me know what you find out, as I may go the super eta piston route if I decide to continue building the engine or not.Driving is the only way to go faster....Comment

Ya I realy don't want to do any blocking or shaving. There is one other option I could go which would be the same piston, rod, and crank setup as the Hartge H27 but it would have a the long stroke crank, with the I 135mm rods, but Lighter pistons. And I could use stock pretty common parts.
I realy wanted the Euro pistons but you know the story behing those :roll:85 325e 2.7 ITB'd stroker

I didn't do a lot of decking/shaving. The shaving was within stock limits. Decking isn't usually done though. Would you be sending the block and head for machine work anyway? If so, it would be pretty cheap for them to do the work.Driving is the only way to go faster....Comment

If you shave the head alone, you'd still have a pretty good engine, better low end than and "i" but similar top end, with possibly a bit more power across the whole range, even using the super eta pistons.Driving is the only way to go faster....Comment
