how often or after how many miles should change ur timing belt

its on an 95 525 i that has 130 000 miles... ive herd something abour after a 100 000 or so u should change the timing belt... is that true ,and how diffcult is the job what should look for expect?

uhhhh. there is no timing belt on that car. it has a chain. go to realoem.com and look at the engine pics.

That engine has a chain, like he said. And, chains normally don't require changing.

Sometimes the chain tensioner will get weak, causing extra noise (and wear) on the chain and rails. That's the thing you need to stay on top of with your timing system.

Yeah some mechanical tensioners get changed out for hydraulic ones, at least on the M54.
