I haven't found any quality info on a Nissan sr20det engine conversion in a E30. Where is a good place to look (besides google)? I have ruled out a Chevy LS1 in anything but a E36 cause umm.... I don't want to die. So I am concidering a sr20det cause it might be easier and I know it'll be cheaper. Whatch think?

Why don't you want to die? we all do it eventually. LS1 makes sense for those who want a monster engine and want to fab a lot of parts. It won't be cheap and it will go like hell. LS1 are light too.
No Japanese hybrids for me. No likey the them. Loved em while I lived their due to cost of owning anything but a Japanese car was crazy.

as a past 240sx owner, i will never understand why all those kids spent thousands of dollars to swap in a smaller engine when there's aftermarket turbo support for the KA24DE, and people take them over a bar on the stock bottom end.
you'll find a KA twincam a lot cheaper than you will an SR20, and it'll have almost as much pull as an m20b25 (*very* close if you find a '91 with the hot cams and 6900rpm rev limiter).
if i had an e30 with a dead motor (or an eta/m42, which is close enough :P ) i might consider swapping in a nissan engine... but no way would i pull a good b25 to do it.past:

well yes, usually, because you can find one in your local junkyard rather than having it shipped overseas...
probably won't be too hard for you to find a wrecked '91-92 240 for a donor if you choose to pursue that route.past:

Overall, I know KAs and have been told that SR20s are superior and KAs are crap but if thats not true than I'll look into it too. But besides doing a good job of trying to change my mind where can I find some info on a SR20DET conversion or a write up :?:"My backpack's got jets..."

Having friends with sr20 powered cars, i can say that in an e30, it would make for a fantastic package. if i wasnt such a damn purist i would do it myself.
also, if you are on DTM Power, there is a guy over her in Oz that is in the process of/ just completed the swap. you may be able to PM and ask some questions. his s/n is SRE30.

or you could put a rotary in it... :)
there were several in auckland, where im originally from, this one is the most powerful...
if your thinking of doing a SR20 swap or other nissan swap remember that US spec engines are usually pretty shit compared to the J-Spec ones, so try and sorce one of them if you can, i can give you some websites if your intrested ;)
good luck

welcome Blindspot, another AU'er(il forgive you for being from across the ditch originally.) u got an e30 or what?
yeah ive seen a few rotary powered e30s over here too. pretty impressive, but i could never live with the sound a wankel personally.
if it were me, id go the SR over an RB. granted, the RB can make more power, but how much power do you really need in an e30 chassis? keep the weight down, get the SR with its alloy block, thoow on a few bolt on mods and roll in one helluva sleeper.sigpicM42 Brigade ... Throwing craze in the 318

StreetSpec is totaly understanding my thoughts on it. You can get as much performance out of an SR for a better price and if it was as easy and inexpensive to squeeze as much as you can out of a M20 I wouldn't even concider doing somthing so dramatic (because it wouldn't be nessicary). And when it comes to an RB I just as well skip that step and monster mash the Chevy LS1 under the hood.
It's all about compramise."My backpack's got jets..."
