    ah, yippee. M30 AFM success!

I drilled out the stripped bolts holding down the M20 electronics, and then swapped them, and put it in my car.

    NO Check Engine light
    Runs great
    No surging, etc.
Not a noticable power difference really, just yet.

Hopefully I'll be driving it enough to have the ECU adapt before Saturday's dyno run.

Nice! Just run the car to redline a couple times to get the ecu to adapt.

how's the throttle response? I always read that was the biggest improvement. you have the injectors too? glad to see you got it working. :)

i've only driven it about 2 miles so far, and am at work right now. :?

but I think I'm going cruisin tonight. 8)

good for me someone I knew had a spare M20 AFM, because you got the variety of M30 AFM that isn't plug and play. :P

Yeah, I have pics of modding the airbox, and it installed. but too busy right now.

            All I can say is:

            WOW

Driving it on highway = very noticable improvement.
And cool new growl around 5k.

This is definitely one of the first things I'm doing when I get my car.

Supplies. No beers, I am not 21. ;)

                Test fit.

Drillin. Ely, I don't know how you got yours to work. But it was not going to happen with mine, so I improvised myself.......

And I couldn't saw through the metal plate, so I used that branch cutter.

                Final install, with cover off.

                Final install, cover on.

I'll go back and paint the airbox top black, and use nail polish to make the silicone black, and do the cheese grater airbox mod too.

hum I had no problems and it looked like it was sealing well. But it appears you cut a little bigger then I did I just barely went past that inner metal plate. And messed with bolts for a while to find some that worked.

I dunno. I just couldn't see how to seal it properly. There is a little ridge on the airbox, that stopped above where the M20 afm would connect, so there would be a gap between the M30 AFM and airbox. Also, the drilled holes were practically on the edge of the airbox......so I just filled them in and sealed it my way.

Guys, the best improvement is the lower rpm pull. Say crusing at 40mph in fourth gear. Before when I got on the throttle, not a whole lot happened, but now the pull is quite a nice improvement.

Is there a part # for that or any identification to show that it came from an m30? I see a bigger similar looking AFM lying around where I work and was wondering if it came off an m30.

Most came with a part number that ends in 027. There are a few others as well.
