Alternator belt not lasting

last time I replaced my alternator, I turned the bolt the wrong direction. A new alternator tensioning bracket and bolt is about $11 total from the dealer. I had the same embarrassing situation.

Which bracket did you get for only $11? Is it the whole mounting bracket? I called a few of my local BMW dealers for the alternator mounting bracket and all associated bolts and the lowest quote I got was $150. I checked a local BMW salvage yard and they said they didn't have any in stock.

$11 here also at BMW of Chattanooga. You need the tensioner bracket that has the teeth, and maybe the large nut with the teeth. ON mine it was just that bracket that was bad.
