    Loose alternator

    Does anyone have any tips on how to tighten the bolt at the bottom of the alternator?...I can get to the bolt facing the radiator and put a socked wench on it but it doesn't seem possible to get to the other one facing the firewall. I can reach it and feel it turning but I cant get any type of wench on it. Someone has to have had this problem before the belt screeching in the morning is driving me crazy:hitler:

    I just wedged a flathead in there to keep the nut from turning and zipped it down nice and tight.

      what about the little adjusting bar thing? loosen it and then pry/wedge the alternator with a 2x4 and tighten that nut bolt again? maybe im just forgetting how it is set up.

        I just use a box end wrench on that nut. It is a lot easier to reach if you remove the air box and AFM.
        The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

          thanks for all the replies I'm about to try wedging a flathead in there. I did remove the airbox/AFM and last time I tried I couldnt get any wench around it cause it feels like theres metal all around the nut..

            Ya I had the same problem and just took off the air box. Once you have access to the backside just use an open end wrench. It's a 13mm, and you should be golden.

              Well thats was a pain I ended up unbolting the bracket and taking the bracket and alternator out all at once. Than ended up using the dremel to cut off the bolt once it was out of the car...what a pain
