Changing my oil filter and had a question??

I just put in my oil filter and I was wondering if it was neccessary to change the seals. i know the filter came with two black seals (one big, one small) and two washers. I know the big one goes around the top but where does the small one go and also the washers? never changed my oil filter in the bmw. thanks.

Don't know about the extra seal. I just use the one that goes around the circumference of the filter. Use the new crush washer on the oil drain plug.

Yeah, the crush washer replaces the one on the oilpan drain plug and the other washer goes on the bolt you have to undo to get the oil filter out.

The small (1/4" diameter rubber seal) goes in the groove at the end of the bolt for the oil filter.
