Blower Motor = Squeaks + Died + Blew #20 Fuse

    Hey Guys,
My blower motor started squealing the other day and acted like it wanted to die, then yesterday it died. I looked under the hood today and noticed the #20 30amp fuse was blown so I replaced it. Now the blower works again and squeals a little, but I'm guessing it's just gonna die again. Think the blower itself should be replaced or just the resistor or something? Both? Should I go with a brand new one?

(I couldn't find this 100% exact issue in the forum so if anyone knows what the problem is I'd really appreciate it ;).)

take the motor out and check the brushes for wear. what happens the brushes wear down to the pt that the amp draw goes through the roof and thus the fuse blows. eventually it will fy the resistor or worse like in my car melt the fuse box... Had to replace and make a new standalone fuse circuit for the fan. Take the fan out inspect the brushes and clean that puppy with electrical spray if the brushes are still good. If the bushing still squeal after cleaning the you might need a new fan or raplce the bushings.

Okay thanks guys. I'll tackle it first thing tomorrow. So if it looks good just clean it and lube it up with like WD40 or something?

Couldn't hurt, but keep in mind if you fix it via this method (and it will definitely make it work correctly) its a very short lived repair and expect to be taking that thing out again within a year tops to fix the issue again. If your tight on money, go for it, but getting that thing in and out is a pain in the ass. If it is indeed your problem, it is wise to invest in a new part.

Same thing just happened to mine. It was siezing up, i sprayed it with some wd-40, and it worked fine for about a week. Starting squeaking the other day, and stopped. Instead of constantly fooling around with it, i'm just going to replace it with a new one and call it a day.

agree with al of the above. if the bushings and the brushes are pretty worn then WD 40 and electrical cleaner will only be a temporary fix.

ck the condition of the brushes. if yo have a good 3/8 of an inch or soo left then maybe consider replacing the bushings with bearings. It will require to spot weld the casing back to the covers but hobby shop rc cars bearing will fit. Just need to get the right size.

the quick fix is just to get a new $200 blower... and have the peace of mind.
