    ECU question

Which ecu's came in the eta's? I'm not as familiar with them as I am the 325i's. I know the 027's did, but were they the only ones? And also since the 528e's had the same engine, would an ecu from an 88 work in my 87 325? __________________

88 ECUs are motronic 1.1/1.3. 87 and earlier are motronic 1.0, but they switched to motronic 1.1 mid 87.

but generally, no an 88 ecu won't work in your 87 - unless your car came with motronic 1.1 (55pin ecu connector). you can look on your 87's ECU and if it says 153, then you can use the later ones.

The eta's had 021's as well, they have a pink sticker. I put a chipped 021 in place of the 027 in my car works fine. HTH
