If you're not running A/C, just cut the belt to the A/C compressor and use that switch to cut it on/off. Your engine will idle up slightly when you turn it on, but it's nothing major. I'm trying to figure out how to disable that.

I wired it completly seperat from anything. I pulled the fan/condensor assembly out.
-removed the fan resistor, wires some 12 guage wire directly to the fan and ran it to a relay with it's own fuse power source right off the battery, I then ran another fuse off the battery and ran it to a lighted switch I installed on the E-break consule, So the switch kicks on the relay and the relay powers the fan. At first I wired the fan right off the switch but melted a switch. And like I said for some reason the fuse for the relay blows every month or after using the fan 20 times or so. I still have the fan clutch on but my m10 likes to heat up at traffic lights so once the temp hits half way I flick the switch and the fan cools the engine back down nice and quick.85 325e 2.7 ITB'd stroker

I think the stock aux fan wired to the temp switches on the radiator would cool the engine plenty enough. That's my plan unless I find a cheap enough electric fan on ebay. Auto zone has plenty of fans for Hotrods I took a look at that are decently priced.85 325e 2.7 ITB'd stroker

yeah you're right matt....i may steal some more shit off that. If not, I'll try Ely's method. My aux fan never comes on, gotta figure that one out, might as well get some more cooling in the process
If I didnt already have 2 fans, I'd look into the SPAL or FAL (something like that) fans that the hot rod catalogs sell.BEERTECH

If any one is interested I may make some mounts to mount the aux fan with out the ac condensor core. I've been meaning to install the aux fan back in my 88 325is without the core and tommorow would be a good day. So I'll make some mounts out of some sheet aluminum I have.85 325e 2.7 ITB'd stroker

i dont think that will work so easily... this is what i am going to do, but the fan only turns on in certain conditions.... the the condensor temp is too high and maybe if the coolant is as well... but i wouldnt remove my other fan and trust that electric one, i would want a much more powerfull fan before i remove my stock fanOriginally posted by e30MattIf you're not running A/C, just cut the belt to the A/C compressor and use that switch to cut it on/off. I'm running without my engine fan in 90 degree heat, using just the aux fan. The needle has yet to reach the center mark... I'm still running 50/50 coolant/water too, I'm flushing it this weekend to run 100% water + Water Wetter.
