Fuel smell / cut wire/ Intake box issue- 325ES

Well I have had a fuel smell in the car for a few days and I finally had time to really open the hood and check.Back near the firewall under the intake mani... on the fuel rail the hose coming out of it... seems it might be leaking. The same hose also follows the back of the mani and comes up to a T junction connecting with two more hose... It is def leaking there as well. I also noticed the T-juntion is plastic. Is it supposed to be plastic and is there even supposed to be a T-junction there? Also at the front of the motor there is a bunch of wires going every which way that has a single one not connected and just cut hanging loose. I cannot find where it hooks up at the moment... but this worries me as well. The final issue is on the right side of the Air-box((if your in the drivers seat)) towards the very front of the vehicle. It looked like it used to have a cap covering it but it does not anymore. There is a plug going into the bottom and an exposed circuit card with some sort of actuator on it. Since this is uncovered could it cause any problems??I will provide pics later on this evening since Im at work and cannot post them here. Hopefully you all can be kind enough to provide some guidance.Yes... I know about the Bentley and have one on order.-Thanks

the uncovered part is your AFM - and yes, that is a BAD thing. The AFM is what measures the mass of air entering your engine, and it's not supposed to be exposed to the elements. it can make your car run too rich/too lean if it's damaged (and if it's opened up, somebody probably tinkered with it).

had the same issue with the plastic "T". yes its supposed to be there. if you can find a metal one go for it, replace it. i replaced all those hoses and the clamps. i have a cut wire also in the same area. mine is for the oil level sender. does your oil light flicker on the dash at all? are you the original owner of the car? is it possible that light has been removed from the cluster? look on the right (passenger) side of the oil pan near the front. you can see the sender sticking straight down out of the block, right above the pan. itll have a flat connector sticking out of it. if there is no wire, thats where it goes.

anyone else have the same issue with that wire on their ETA?

          Heres the pics as promised...

What can I do about the AFM... is there a way to bypass or do I have to replace it?

wow, i was waaaay wrong -that's not your AFM (my parts car was mising the cover on top of the AFM, so that's why I thought that). It looks like an early baro sensor? from what I understand, people tend to take them out as they cause more problems than they help. but somebody with more experience on early cars will probably be able to help more than me :p

                        K... fixed the fuel leak.

Still having surging issues and need to cover the intake sensor... So Im still a little confused on whats wrong. I dont want to replace the O2 sensors and have that not fix the problem since they are so expensive.
