    Coollant problem!

So yesterday I was adding some oil to my car because i burn a bit in the high revs. SO I figured while im under the hood I'll check the coolant level since i cant really see thru the container. Open it up, and its really low, so I fill it up. Guess what, its back to were it was yesterday. My exhaust isn't smoking, nor smelling, and I dont have any leaks. Were is it going?!

Since this was only a one day interval and it was a long time since I checked it before yesterday wouldnt I have experienced overheating in the time period b4 yesterday?

Theres no coolant in the oil and visa versa. What the hell is wrong!?

You sure you're not leaking coolant somewhere?

Does your car blow hot air?

And did you put in the coolant when the engine was warm?

I'm sure theres no leaks, atleast not when it sits. It doesnt blow very hot, it never helped me in winter(the heat). No, If filled it when it was cold.

your coolant is being burned thru the exhaust system, meaning head gasket time... Have Fun!

uh oh.... sounds like the problem I had, in fact, sounds 100% like the problem I had, i had to fill the resovoir every other day.... guess what, your not gonna want to hear what it was...

cracked head. had to replace the head, coolant was getting into the pistons and filling/burning up in there. here's a pic of what my engine looked like without the head during that problem...

i really hope, for your sake that it's not the same problem...

Son of a... Well last night my friend sayed when I left his house there was white smoke out my exhaust. How much did that shit run you. Maybe for me its just the head gasket, even then, son of a!!!!!!!!!! :x

I just put in a turner chip, think that maybe have sent the head or head gasket over board?

                Flush the coolant

I had this issue on two of my cars the 325e and the 325ic basically I had air in the system and the coolant was boiling off to God knows where. I would check the little heater hoses attached to the firewall for cracks I had a small one back there and if you really can't find one leak flush it anyways. Ohh and make sure your coolant cap is on tight, I let my girl put it on once and later that day I stopped the car and coolant came out the overflow hose.

Well if I flush it and Ithe head or head gasket is bad, could getting water in those areas be potentialy bad?

no doubt in my mind that you need a new head gasket, BIG repair if you do it correctly and replaced all belts, hoses and other things that need replacing. You would only get a cracked head upon overheating your car, but if he saw white smoke, its def a headgasket.

I think my headgasket might be blown, but my overflow tank only has to be topped off every 1-2 months. When I park the car there are no signs of dripping coolant though, unless its so slow I don't even notice it. And occasionally my car with blow a plume of smoke, but it will only do it once. Like if I am driving at night and suddenly floor the car, it will blow a cloud, but if I floor it again 10 seconds later none will come out. I think that is just soot from the exhaust and a lot of carbon build up in my engine. I wish there was a surefire way to tell if the headgasket was bad.

Well its my head gasket or head. Filled it, bled it properly, ran it. There was a nice constant flow of white smoke out the exhaust.

so a cracked head is only caused by overheating?
