I gave up the 2-ton jack-stands. I don't think they are stable enough. The base isn't big enough and they tend to roll.
Use 6-ton jack-stands!!!Leave a comment:

Never imagined this thread to go on for so long or have so many cry baby replies .
IMO if you have to ask this question then you should NOT be working on your car, take it to a nice independent shop .Leave a comment:

It looks like the driveway is sloped? If so, those cinder blocks will just slide, and there's no way I'd trust a parking brake with my life. Get some proper wheel chocks (I built some out of 2x4's to fit my tires properly) and you should be good.
And at some point, you will need to lower the front to lift out the engine.Leave a comment:

Yea, I suppose that angle isn't THAT steep. However, when I pull my motor, I pull out the tranny too, and there's tons of tilting going on with the motor. Yesterday, I even had to jack up the back of my car more (twice as high as the front) to get the motor out successfully. So, what I'm sayin is, with the car's nose pointed in the air like that, you WILL have trouble getting the motor out.
If you guys think that's bad, I tried doing stands on my driveway once, and when I went to jack up the rear after the front was off the ground, the stands starting tipping.

Oh come on. Thats what, MAYBE 1/4" per foot slope, which is standard for garage slabs.
Looks perfectly safe. I agree on 2 more jack stands though. You could even put the rear stands 1 notch higher to even the car out if you feel so inclined.
Also, if you do get more stands, put then sideways on the rear subframe as far out as they will go without being on the bushings.Leave a comment:

NO! Only because your driveway appears to have a slope in the pic. Maybe it's just the angle. But I would never get under a car lifted on a slope.Leave a comment:

Wheels I think look good the vert. Them jack stands have nice wide surface that mate to the car. they look to work quite well when sat on the unibody part. It sucks having skinnier ones the set kinda cockeyed.Leave a comment:
