to tell you the truth it will be an original write up if it works, the local shop has a couple e46ers and I should be able to get them at a good price, or at least look at them to see if it may work. If it does I will post pictures and all.Originally posted by spencersYeah, I haven't seen any articles about the e46 hids in e30 housings.. How are you managing to do it?Originally posted by Brysonyeah, how do those headlights work, I'd never heard of them fitting... I'll have to pick up a pair for the beast
I really hope they work, I like the look of the OE BMW Hids the best.Comment

I havent done it yet, but the parts guy at the dealership did it to his E30 and claimed it was a direct fit into the US spec ellipsoids.
I have them sitting out in the garage and if I get the motor fired in the next couple days, I will install the lights this weekend and take some pics....Originally posted by Simon SWhen a dream is a dream for too long - it becomes a fantasy..

Well, I fired it for the first time last weekend after some technical difficulties with my harness. When I did the pre-install work on the harness I used ORCA and AKG's info, I just cross referenced the two. That proved to be a mistake as I had an additional 4 to 5 hours of troubleshooting to figure out why the car would crank and not start. Turns out that the small green wire wasnt being energized. Minor detail as that is the wire that tells the DME to turn on....lol. I also had issues with some of the major circuits in the car not having power(power windows/locks, HVAC, etc.). That turned out to be another small wire that wasnt energized on the harness.
With that said, it's running although very loud as there is no muffler. The motor took just over 10 quarts of oil which means I gained about 3 + quarts of capacity from the plumbing, oil cooler, and outboard filter.
Here's some updated pics, I am going to try and finish up the electrical work in the car this weekend so that I have functioning gauges for the road test.
With the harness shrouds in place, there is a spot for an additional body harness connector that is not used. Well it just so happens that it is the same size as a VDO volt gauge that I happened to have laying around. I think I will eventually change it to something more useful such as a fuel pressure gauge.

Interesting. I'm using the E21 booster also and it sits much closer to the intake manifold and the brake fluid resevoir comes very close to touching the throttle body.Originally posted by Mtripleactually its an E21 booster....Originally posted by Brew
Is that a 2002 booster?
Thanks for the comments
Is the S50 intake manifold a different shape that the M50 one?
I'm assuming that you are using the e28 motor mounts?'91 318is

Actually no. The S52 crowd buys the M50 manifold to replace thie rS52 manifold all the time so I would have to assume its the same as the S50 one.
He actually has plenty of room considering. I had to run a remote resevior for the 325ix booster and M5 MC. It sits under the intake boot.Im now E30less.

It's actually a lot closer than it looks. I had to grind the "fins" on the S50 manifold near the booster. I now have about 3/8" clearance between the booster and manifold, it's tight!!!Originally posted by Simon SWhen a dream is a dream for too long - it becomes a fantasy..

Had to grind the fins on the manifold for the 325ix booster also. The only thing is yours clears the boot better than mine. Its shorter.
Mtriple, did you use a larger MC liike out of an old 735 or E28 535?Im now E30less.

No, I havent addressed the brakes too much because I'm not sure what its going to be like on the track. I'm not sure which direction I will go, either a BBK, 5 lug swap, or upgrade the MC. For the street, the stock brakes are just fine...Originally posted by Ryan StewartMtriple, did you use a larger MC liike out of an old 735 or E28 535?Originally posted by Simon SWhen a dream is a dream for too long - it becomes a fantasy..
