    Anyone know what's happening?

I was drivin along lawrenceville hwy today and i was i think in third gear and all of a sudden the rpm's dropped like mad and the car jerked like crazy. i had to pump the throttle very hard to get it acting normal again. It would drive for about a quarter mile and then do the same thing over again. its almost like for a second there the engine has no fuel at all. I dunno if something was clogged in the fuel lines or what but has this happened to anyone else?

By the way, after a couple times of doin this the car returned to its normal self and idled properly. Hmmmm...

    Fuel pump?

My bro has an AT and the fuel pump went out while I was drving it. All the sudden the The RPMs just dropped and I couldn't get them to go back up at all. Sounds like the same kind of problem to me, but mine was more serious.

I'd guess something's wrong with either one of the fuel pumps

I had a problem like that with my 318i. It was something called the "fuel pump crossover relay".

Start your car and slap the relays on the driver's side fender by the strut tower. If it runs bad, and you slap it again and it gets better, then it's that relay.

          Hope this helps.

did the check light flash for a half second? if so, it's probably the O2 sensor. that happened to a bunch of us on the 325ix mailing list several months ago. I replaced mine and it hasn't happened again (it happened 3 times before that).

I thought only e28s had O2 sensors in their check panels?

e30s indicate O2 sensor malfunction by the check engine light.

what car do you ahve again? specify the year and model.....

You can check the ECU to see the fault if you have a later model 325i.

Now to hunt for the ECU codes......
