Timing belt: 128 teeth or 127 teeth???

Gotta buy this stuff locally, so I'm stuck with Autozone. They're asking me if I have 128 teeth or 127 teeth for my timing belt.

Has anyone ever heard this, and how do I find out which I have? Thanks!

it says oh your tenisonor 127 or 128 so that how you know, btw u should replace your tenisonor, and belt at the same time so therfore if u did that you would have a 128 tooth belt.

I'm definitely replacing the tensioner, and water pump (see other post). So you're saying if I buy a new tensioner and belt, I should buy the 128 tooth?

The 128 tooth belts are outdated. You need the belt and tensioner for the 127 setup. The tensioner will have Z-127 stamped on it.

The car had a 127 tooth in it. I had him count after I snipped it with a set of dykes. Gotta change it now. Besides some one had swapped the belt awhile back but it was britttle.

But the tensioner was not available any where and it didn't have the peg and spring in it. Non available anywhere either. Will have to go back in.

Greg, do you think maybe they used the 127 tooth at the replacement and that's why the cam gear was off a tooth? I was just thinkin about that, maybe the 128 tooth would line it up better...food for thought.

Think that tensioner will hold until November? No sense in replacing it if the car is getting dismantled for the winter, you know?

I'd order the tensioner and wait a few days to get it done rather than risk it. Bentley says you must use the 127 when you replace it.

Well, the job is already done, with original tensioner in place. We used the 127 tooth belt...Greg, did you see that it said only to use the 127 tooth belt? I didn't...that's what we get for not really using it lol.
