    E30 rear camber.

Hey guys, I put new tires on my car.....since It was at my uncle's shop, he was scaring me at how bad the camber is on my car, and that the tires wont last long, bah bah bah.

But ya, I know its gonna wear more on the inside, but how much more?

How long have you guys gone with tires? How long can I expect a new set to last? And to correct the prob, they do make camber plates for our cars correct? Are they worth it?

    Thats it Thanks

How off was the previous set of tires wearing. Camber isn't usually an issue unless your car is ugly low, like tucking the rear rim low.

    Post a pic.

You shouldn't be running more than -2 deg on the rear. You could always rotate the tyres. Tyre life is obviously pretty dependant on how you drive etc.

youre rolling 15's arent you? you shouldnt have that much of a wear problem. I think ive got the same wheels as you, camber doesnt look too bad. Now with my 17's on, that is seriously cambered.

I used to have -3 degrees in the back until I did the modified subframe. Now I'm probably sitting at about -1.5. That is the expensive route, but the correct way to fix it.

I used to eat through tires like crazy. I was halfway through a set of tires when I modified the subframe, so I cannot attest to how it is now. If you're too low, you will have serious traction problems.

Yeah, rear camber is not an easy fix on our cars. Just add some 10mm spring pads in the back, your car is REALLY low as it stands.

Changes in toe and camber affect tire wear severly. Some susp setups will hurt your toe-in more than others. Mine on GCs seem to be spec on when I did a "manual check" using a "line of sight method" to measure em. I am yet to have a shop give do a print out of the actual #s.

I have had the Kumho ASX tires on for a while now and I am monitoring them. The fact that i have high treadwear vs low treadwear tires will obviously mean this is not a parallel comparison to my Yokos though...

Most e30s out there have tweaked subframes adn worn bushings etc too...that could affect wear more.

I forget brandon exactly how did you modify your subframe. I'm looking at the adj. rear camber bushings that Bimmerworld sells. Which way did you go?

Tthe eccentric bushings are no good. It's hard to get good settings out of them, and when you finally do they tend to slip around on you. The weld on tabs with eccentric bolts are the best way to go.

Thanks guys, my car is a bit lower than i wanted it. AMI is sending me a new set of rear springs.

Here is a pic, since my pic i've added 10mm spring pads, plus new tires
you can't see how bad my camber is, the mudguards hide it, im gonna take them off and see how it looks

I bet part of the problem is worn bushings.. that is quite a bit of camber.

enine, i can understand why tire wear is a problem for you... you have way to much toe-in feel the tread of your tire should be smooth bet dollars to dounts it's rough. camber isn't bad but by the looks of the pics your toe is fucked your tires look to be running simmilar to this /-\ which would eat them up pretty bad... maybe i'm wrong might just be the pics.
