      EDIT: Hang on a second. Did the M54 even come in a 2.8 L? The guy I bought it from said this was a '99 Z3 2.8 L. Man I can't wait to get home and start running part numbers through ETK to see if I got f*cked. :evil:
      man oh man...you take things a little to literally. The guy just said unchanged -- probably just referring to displacement and the fact it is still aluminum -- I highly doubt he knows the complete technical details of the M52 vs M54 aluminum bottom ends and if late style heads will bolt up or not.

        I think you have something that will not be usable. I would try to call a new BMW tech and pry the answers from him/her

        maybe you can figure out how to use an aftermarket FMU and abandon the VANOS.
